About Trey

“So, tell me a little about yourself…” Doesn’t everyone just love that anxiety-inducing statement?

I am a native Texan, and I am a bit snobby about that. However, I blasphemously married a Californian (Shannon). We have been married for about a decade now and have four little ones that bring deep-seated joy into my life: Owen Ray, Chandler, Elinor, and Piper. While I have had a bit of a nomadic adulthood, we are now firmly settled in Crowley, TX. I am a high school teacher with a religion degree. Have fun with that.

I am a book nerd, sci-fi nerd, food nerd, and, well,  all around nerd. I used to consider this part of my sanctification, but now I embrace it and live out my nerdiness licentiously. I love playing basketball (as all sub-6ft white dudes should). Secretly, I love 80s rock ballads and 90s R&B (but don’t tell). I love to talk theology as long as it leads to worship.

I am saved by God’s great grace and mercy through the cross of Jesus Christ. If that statement makes you feel uncomfortable, do not worry because it should. I came to know Christ when I was 17 and have spent the past 15ish years figuring out just how faithful God is compared to how faithless I can be.

I love to talk about the deep questions that drive faith and life. That is the main purpose of this blog. Please feel free to engage, doubt, and push back here. It is a safe place.

If I had a superpower, I would be a mighty defeater of purposes…

  1. Well once I get some wise words then I’ll let you know! Thanks, Tom. You need to make it out Texas-way soon. It has been too long, my friend!
